Serbia and Croatia won the men and women world titles.

A fantastic atmosphere and notable Hungarian successes marked the 2025 ninepin bowling world championship held in Székesfehérvár.

“If someone offers you the opportunity to host a world championship—and a successful one at that—you just can’t say no. It was a huge amount of work, but it was worth it,” said Pintyőke, who played a key role in organizing the event and serving as one of its driving forces. He noted that the domestic senior women’s and men’s teams both won bronze medals, proving that reaching the top four was a realistic goal—and they achieved it. “We close with maximum satisfaction.”

The youth world championship also delivered strong Hungarian results: the U19 women’s team—Barbara Müller, Adelin Fábián, Kinga Danóczy, Boglárka Szabó, Bettina Bodó, and Barbara Bognár—and the U19 men’s squad—Dominik Hegedüs, Zsombor Pis, Olivér Reibling, Szabolcs Sziklási, Milán Várvögyi, and Dávid Mazzag—each won bronze medals. Additionally, Hegedüs and Pis took third place in the U19 tandem event. “Youth sport is unpredictable, but the results are encouraging. We have begun a new path, and this feedback is valuable,” emphasized the president.

The venue itself was a standout feature of the championship: MET Arena proved not only technically ideal but also dignified the competition. “Székesfehérvár and the MET Arena proved to be perfect hosts. The stands were roaring day after day—Hungarians, Serbs, Austrians, and Germans together created an atmosphere worthy of a world event,” Pintyőke said.

Key support for the championship’s execution was provided by the Sport Secretariat of the Ministry of Defence, the National Competition Sport Federation, and several major sponsors, including EB Hungary Invest Ltd., MVM, and Austria’s Politechnika. The civil community’s contribution was also memorable: “Someone came every day bringing a crate of bananas for the youth team—this is the true face of sport,” recounted the president.

However, the legacy of the championship extends far beyond podium finishes. “If we can achieve that many children say, ‘I want to do this because I saw how good it is,’ then it was all worthwhile. Now we know: it matters.”
