Between May 22 and June 7, the world’s best ninepin bowlers will be competing in Székesfehérvár, as the City of Kings hosts this year’s World Ninepin Bowling Championship.

Mayor András Cser-Palkovics emphasized that this event is more than just a major sports competition for the city:

“Ninepin Bowling has traditionally been a popular sport in Székesfehérvár. We trust that this global event will offer a lasting experience for both athletes and spectators.”

The mayor added that they gladly accepted the approach from the ninepin bowling community:

“The MET Arena is primarily the home of Hydro Fehérvár AV19, but it can also serve as an ideal venue for competitions in various sports—even at an international level. That’s why we were pleased to be approached by the Hungarian Ninepin Bowling Federation, and for many months now we’ve been working hand-in-hand with the organizers behind the scenes to ensure this will be a high-quality and successful event that remains memorable for both the competing nations and, hopefully, the large number of visitors.”

“Ninepin Bowling plays a prominent role in the city’s life. Thanks to the renewed Köfém SC bowling alley and the growing opportunities for community sports, this fantastic sport is accessible to local residents as well. The new developments not only provide excellent conditions for professional athletes but also open new perspectives for youth development and recreational players,” said Cser-Palkovics.

What makes this world championship special is that it includes not only the senior team world championships, but also significant competitions for the U15 and U19 age groups. During the tournament, held from May 22 to June 7, the world’s top ninepin bowlers will come to Székesfehérvár.
